Waitaha Skate Park

I recently had the honour of painting a vibrant mural at the Waitaha Reserve skate park in Welcome Bay, for the Tauranga City Council with local artist Jasmine Kroeze.

We wanted to create something bold, vibrant and full of personality. We also wanted to bring a connection back to the natural landscape that the Reserve is built on, which is highlighted by the native birds and florals in our design. The mural features playful patterns, bright colors and local flora and fauna. It’s all about celebrating diversity and creating a welcoming space for everyone.

It all started with an artist call out from Creative Bay of Plenty asking for designs that inspire inclusion and empowerment, especially for young females who are into skateboarding. We wanted this mural to reflect the vibrant and diverse community of Welcome Bay. The colour palette and bold patterns are fun and playful, and the native birds and plants give a nod to the local area.

And this is just the start! We’ve also been commissioned to paint the new skateboard ramp in 2025.
