Santa’s Grotto

When I first read Downtown Tauranga’s brief for the Santa’s Southern Hemisphere Grotto mural commission, a few things came to mind that inspired my design. I wanted the piece to evoke nostalgia and remind people of summertime in the Bay of Plenty. Whether it's relaxing at the beach under the shade of pohutukawa trees, gathering with whānau to enjoy delicious kai, indulging in Bobby’s Fish n Chips in the sunshine, doing a manu off the Tauranga wharf, or camping with friends and family—this is some of what I think makes The Bay, my home, so special in the summer 🌼🌼. I hope this mural brings back joyful memories for people!
